VoCo – Voice Community – began in 2016 as a concert showcasing the best of Auckland’s a cappella and community choirs. The brainchild of conductor Brian Lee, the event expanded in 2017 to include singing groups from around the world, including internationally renowned Swedish quintet The Real Group. Their contributions included workshops, masterclasses and a finale concert at Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre.

Now VoCo is back for 2019 to give some of the North Island’s best-loved choirs the chance to perform at an iconic venue – Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell – to connect with other singers and explore new repertoire.

Praise for VoCo 2017

Many congratulations from Barbershop Harmony NZ for putting together another hugely successful VoCo. This year was simply spectacular! The concept you’ve built and transformed from vision to action of gathering singers of all genres to enjoy each others’ performances is spot-on. Add in the education alongside and the visits from world-leading singers and you’ve got the winning formula.
